The Myth about the new boat launch

As most of you have seen the sign (Under Construction) in-between the new boat launch and the old one. Most have theirs opinions as to what this means. In the last 2 newsletters and at the AGM we stated that the new boat launch is 16’ short and that when the water level drops below 855.00 Meters that it would be difficult to launch a boat. In the spring it was also noted that the boat launch has a bit of a bowl to it.

Below is a graph of the new and old boat launch. The old boat launch has a pitch of 10 degrees and the new boat launch has a pitch of 14 degrees overall. However, it is close to 18 degrees at the start, levels to about 6 degrees and then falls again at about 15 degrees. When the water is high (Above 855.75) low riding vehicles, cars, vans and some trucks will need to put their vehicles below their bumpers in the water to launch boats and seadoos and again to retrieve because the trailer tires are on the ‘flat’ part of the launch. Normally this is May & June.

The boat launch will be ‘fixed’ when the water returns back to normal levels as well as have the remaining 32 blocks installed at the end of the new launch. This is not expected for another 2-3 years.
