July 17Little Bow Water Quality!
Many of you have heard in the news of the Emergency Alert issued last night as a result of a liquid fertilizer spill into the Little Bow River, east of Carmangay. The Alert recommended residents using from the river water east of Carmangay to exercise caution. The Little Bow River flow into the Travers Reservoir.
The Water Plant at the Resort was shut-down yesterday afternoon by order of Alberta Environment as a result of the incident. However, Alberta Environment has cleared us to operate the plant effective as at 7:00 a.m. this morning. During the interim water was supplied to residents from the storage tank.
The drinking water supplied from the Little Bow Water Treatment Plant is safe to use. Alberta Environment is continuing to monitor the situation and will advise us of any change in status.
Regards
Warren Lyckman
